    Tarmac Deutschland GmbH, Operation Mühlberg

Since 1968 in Mühlberg on the Elbe, sands, gravels and gravel mixes have been extracted for use in the construction industry. The materials are used to produce the following products.

    • Concrete and concrete products
    • Mineral mixes
    • Frost protection layers and mineral mixes for road construction
    • Aggregates for rail construction

Gravels and sands are the natural raw materials for the construction industry. They were formed in the Quaternary and Tertiary periods and are classified as sedimentary cohesionless soils. Formerly solid rock like granite, basalt and quartzite “weathers” under the changing influence of sun, rain, and frost into loose material. Water, wind and glacial ice carry away the loose rock and deposit it at other locations. A long transport in rivers such as the Elbe reduces the size of the grains and rounds them off. Only the most robust grains resist the wear caused by this process.

Our company focuses on environmentally friendly means of transport which are suitable for bulk goods. Therefore, our sands and gravels are mainly transported by rail but also by ship on the river Elbe and by truck.

Tarmac Deutschland GmbH operates and manages a connecting railway station with 7 lines. Two loading tracks enable us to load two trains simultaneously. An advanced rail loading system with a capacity of 1,000 t/h and the use of radio-controlled locomotives allow for the loading of a heavy freight train (with 2,000 t) to be completed within only two hours.

Highly efficient loading facilities such as silos and wheel loaders ensure the effective execution of truck transports.Due to the fair cooperation with our service providers and customers and a sophisticated logistics system we also have the capability to deliver aggregates to far away consumers.

    Lausitzer Grauwacke GmbH

Since 1971 hardstone is excavated in a 60 ha quarry in Oßling, one of the two sites of Lausitzer Grauwacke GmbH. The obtained aggregates are characterised by their high quality. Greywacke is a very hard rock. It is highly resistant to freeze and thawing and has a high polished stone value. Due to these characteristics the stone is especially suitable for the production of many aggregates.

    • Mineral mixes
    • Road and rail construction
    • Construction of port facilities and bank reinforcements

Greywacke is highly resistant to mechanical wear and weathering. For this reason the material is mainly used in the construction of traffic routes.

Sand + Kies Union Berlin - Brandenburg

The SKBB business produces sands, gravels and grain mixtures. The product range also includes mineral mixes, frost protection materials, recycled aggregates, and several special mixtures and sands.

The materials are used in different sectors of the construction industry.

    • Asphalt and mineral mixes
    • Concrete – also for road surfacing and high-quality concrete buildings
    • Frost protection layers for road construction

The individual sand and gravel plants are favourably situated. The good logistic connection to the market in Berlin –Brandenburg enables economically efficient supplies. A variety of large construction projects that had been supplied with our materials and were completed within the last few years prove our capability.

The SKBB business is affiliated on a corporate law basis with Kies und Beton Holding Baden-Baden and Tarmac Deutschland GmbH Mühlberg. It closely cooperates with Lausitzer Grauwacke GmbH Ossling.
